Leah Everist has become the 39th student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to receive the Luce Fellowship and the 33rd Morehead-Cain Scholar to receive the honor.
The program will provide Everist the opportunity to take part in a year-long internship working on community preparedness and disaster response efforts in Asia.
A health policy and management major and medical anthropology minor, Everist is the thirteenth Carolina student chosen by the Henry Luce Foundation within the past ten years. UNC-Chapel Hill now boasts more Luce Scholars than any other college or university in the United States.
Everist is one of only eighteen students to receive the fellowship nationwide.
